A wooden ornament featuring three hand-painted puffins, handmade by Susan Evans. This one of a kind sculpture features a little gang of puffins sitting on a glorious piece of mopani root. This driftwood comes from the dried roots of the Mopane tree - native to South Africa and is known for it's gnarly texture! The sculpture measures about 15cm at it's widest point and about 12cm high. The ornament is hand-painted and hand-carved and would look perfect in a coastal themed room! (Item: 2594)

Susan Evans creates toys, sculptures, and automata using all kinds of wood. They are mainly intended for adults but it is a bonus if children like them too. She uses acrylic paint, washes, and coloured inks to decorate her work, and carves using air-dried lime and seals her pieces with a matte water-based varnish or wax polish. After training as a teacher of history she was appointed to a job in Grimsby on England’s east coast. There she began her artistic practice by making personal gifts for friends from materials found on the beach: driftwood, recycled wood, and other found objects.
