A blue sea glass pendant. Handmade jewellery from Scotland using authentic pale cornflower blue seaglass. 

The necklace is wire-wrapped with silver-plated wire and features a sweet little wave. The sea glass itself is approximately 3cm high. The necklace comes with a silver-plated snake chain with an extender on it which can be worn between 16-18 inches. 

It arrives gift-wrapped in a pretty box with a free silver cleaning cloth, making it a perfect present for anyone who loves the sea and it's natural treasures!

The glass has been reshaped and smoothed over decades of tumbling in the waves! Blue glass is rare, particularly at this size. It was commonly used in medicine (or poison!) bottles, which were traditionally made from thinner glass than beer or wine bottles. Therefore is tended to break into smaller fragments in the sea so large pieces like this are hard to find! (Item: 3783)

All my jewellery is handmade in Scotland from naturally sea-worn materials. I love to gather these treasures while beach-combing on the beautiful beaches in Anstruther in the East Neuk of Fife as well as the surrounding beaches of St Andrews, Pittenweem, Crail & St Monans. Much of the seaglass dates back to the Victorian era and is known as 'mermaid tears'. When sailors were lost at sea, the mermaids would cry and their tears would wash up on the shore.
