Tiny Framed Sea Glass Heart - Cobalt Blue Scottish Beach Glass Coastal Wall Art

A sea glass heart picture handmade from tiny pieces of rare cobalt blue Scottish beach glass. The sea glass washes up on the gorgeous beaches in the East Neuk of Fife in Scotland. 

The heart collage comes in a beautiful frame with a white mount. The heart itself measures 1.5 inches (3.5cm) wide and the frame measures 6x6 inches. The frame can be hung on the wall but also has a stand on the back so can be freestanding on a shelf. 

Blue glass is rare and was commonly used in medicine (or poison!) bottles, which were traditionally made from thinner glass than beer or wine bottles. Therefore it tends to break into smaller fragments in the sea!

Much of the sea glass I use dates back to the Victorian era and is known as 'mermaid tears'. When sailors were lost at sea, the mermaids would cry and their tears would wash up on the shore. The glass has been reshaped and smoothed over decades of tumbling in the Scottish waves!
